Villa Vauben, Luxembourg
Optimal climate
The Villa Vauban, the city’s art museum with its impressive collection of paintings, is located in the centre of Luxembourg’s city park. After extensive renovation and the addition of a modern extension with a perforated brass façade, the 19th century bourgeois villa was reopened in 2012.
Air conditioning museums rooms is a challenge because, on the one hand, people should feel comfortable in the room and, on the other hand, there are considerable conservation requirements to preserve the exhibits and the fabric of the building.
The exhibition rooms in the old building are air-conditioned using a displacement air system with TTC underfloor convectors. The aim ist to keep the room air as constant as possible in terms of temperature and humidity.
The walk-on wooden comb gratings covering the displacement air throughs are colour-coordinated with the parquet flooring and blend harminously into the overall picture.
