‘Drainlight’ – Innovative lighting system for Zwickau’s main market square
As part of the city’s 900th anniversary celebrations, the ‘Drainlight’ lighting system was installed on Zwickau’s main market square in 2018 and has been inspiring visitors with its atmospheric LED light lines ever since. The system combines a stainless steel drainage channel with high-quality RGB-W LED light lines that are integrated into linear grate covers (type KSM-V).
The light lines run for around 50 metres and connect nine water fountains, which are illuminated in colour after dark. Colours and light effects can be flexibly controlled via a DMX interface, creating dynamic, attractive effects that make the water and light experience on the square special.
The ‘Drainlight’ system is not only a visual highlight, but also functional: the robust construction can be walked and driven on, is weatherproof and energy-saving. It creates more safety, increases the quality of stay and supports the identity of the city.
With ‘Drainlight’, Zwickau shows how innovative LED technology can make urban spaces more lively and inviting.
