Architecture meets product innovation: TTC linear gratings and LED ConLights in use

In Düsseldorf’s Media Harbour, an elegantly understated, shiny black new building makes a special statement – not only with its clear design language, but above all with an innovative, integrated lighting concept. The centrepiece of the nocturnal staging are TTC linear gratings in combination with LED ConLights, which together enable interior façade lighting that sets architectural and technical standards.

Instead of relying on external light sources, the glass façade is illuminated entirely from within: the convector shafts behind the glass façade were covered with homogeneously designed TTC linear gratings. These also serve as a structuring design element and as a support level for the flush-mounted integrated LED ConLights. Each lighting unit is equipped with three RGB LEDs, covered with walk-on glass and positioned precisely between the façade joints – for uniform light distribution across all floors.

The lighting concept was also consistently continued in the stairwell: Lines of light installed along the flights of stairs not only provide orientation, but also create an artistic lighting effect when viewed from the outside – a successful synthesis of functionality and lighting aesthetics.

The project impressively demonstrates how TTC linear gratings and LED ConLights can be invisibly integrated into the architecture as a technical system – while maximising the visual impact. The clear lines, the design consistency over several storeys and the atmospheric lighting effect make the building a real eye-catcher at night – without any additional façade applications.
