The Riesstrasse vocational school center in Munich-Moosach sets new standards for municipal educational buildings – both architecturally and technically. The air conditioning of the professionally equipped sound and video studios was particularly challenging, as high heat loads had to be managed while meeting the strictest sound insulation requirements. The solution consists of a combination of ceiling-mounted chilled beams, gravity coolers behind curtain walls and floor channel convectors that both heat and supply fresh air. The cooling is efficiently provided by groundwater – a rare but innovative choice in school construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thermoactive ceilings are used in the classrooms to dissipate media-related heat loads. However, the original chilled ceiling concept had to be revised for the studios, as it was unable to cope with the actual heat generated by spotlights and technology. Instead, noiseless convectors with a high cooling capacity and flexible installation options were used, which can be optimally integrated into the studio environment. The system is complemented by a quiet, high-performance ventilation system with sound-insulated outlets and uniform aluminum comb grilles that combine design and functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
