Greenhouse gas emissions are rising worldwide. The Paris Agreement, to which the world’s leading countries have committed themselves, aims to limit global warming to well below two degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels. But implementing the Paris Climate Agreement will be difficult and poses huge challenges for global society.<\/p>\n\n
On average, a German citizen produces just over eleven tons of greenhouse gas emissions every year. Heating, travel, living, food – there are many areas in which the desire for more comfort unnecessarily increases the CO2 footprint. First of all, awareness must be raised that each individual can make many decisions that are less harmful to the environment. Only if this message catches on in people’s minds will a reduction be possible in the long term. The industry’s offers of consumer goods are only helpful if they are accepted. Cars can consume less energy (bicycles even run without fuel), special shower heads can save water. But only if citizens actively decide to use them. If the offers are not accepted, they are of no use. It comes as no surprise that consumers respond best when ecological features are combined with cost savings and added convenience.
